Welcome to the party pal. It isn't a CCSS phenomenon. The idea of serfdom via various public institutions has been around in some shape or form for many thousands of years. The CCSS definitely further increases the stranglehold on our young people's minds and how they'll be shaped though. <br /><br />As far as teachers with tenure being better teachers b/c of experience (vs. those who don't have as much), that's about as bogus as Amway. All tenure creates for some not all, is an excuse to become lazy and apathetic. If you're a good teacher, you shouldn't need tenure to keep your job. However, I did want to co...I enjoyed your article. However, I did want to comment regarding teacher attrition rates in general. Last time I looked up stats, they went something like this:<br /><br />50% that start a teacher education program never finish<br />50% that graduate from a teacher education program never take a job in teaching<br />50% that take a job in teaching will quit within the first 2 years<br /><br />So the phenomenon you mention with TFA is rampant across traditional teacher education, as well.
