I believe we need a healthy balance between some basic computer skills (presentations, data, word processing) we want our students to have under their belt and exposure to newer tools. The way I see it the “newer” tools such as Wiki’s, blogs, Google Docs, Jing, the Tubes (You Tube / Teacher Tube), Feeds, Twitter are a natural extension to the “Basic” skills. One should compliment the other and be taught together, not separately. It is especially important to look at what they do at SLA and other examples as we further discuss how to better connect between our core curriculum and technology in NYC.DENYhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17737815333440714058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8318734518772387227.post-39755485549169442272008-05-30T22:19:00.000-04:002008-05-30T22:19:00.000-04:00@Maria - I have not seen other schools like this i...@Maria - I have not seen other schools like this in NYC. I would email Mr. Lehman (a former NYC educator) who may be able to tell you what he has seen. I do know that there is an "iSchool" that will be opening in Chelsea, an Info Tech High School, Bronx Science, and Brooklyn Tech. They all have unique and valuable models, but they seem different than this school.Lisa Nielsenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07759123507185453030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8318734518772387227.post-75780831819465570242008-05-30T11:43:00.000-04:002008-05-30T11:43:00.000-04:00Great coverage of this visit Lisa -- in-depth as a...Great coverage of this visit Lisa -- in-depth as always!Jim McDermotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06307794341181543501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8318734518772387227.post-58518091012142823702008-05-30T11:06:00.000-04:002008-05-30T11:06:00.000-04:00Hi Lisa, do we have similar schools in the city?Hi Lisa, do we have similar schools in the city?Mariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01564541113011111399noreply@blogger.com
