The greatest hope is of course the future generation. The idiom of social expression is rapidly changing and it is more than likely that future expression will take forms as yet unexplored. Getting kids to blog would be a wonderful way to get them involved in the issues of the day, get comfortable with digital community, and equip them to speak the language of tomorrow. And all of this in addition to the obvious school performance benefits that you have listed. If I were to suggest the first change to teaching in the classrooms, it would be to have technology used in every classroom at every desk (i.e., every student with a laptop).
