9 ABCs of Livestreaming

Livestreaming is hot and more and more innovative educators are hopping on the livestream bandwagon. When they do, here are the ABCs of livestreaming to keep in mind.

  1. Always Be Capturing: Be on the look out for great opportunities worth capturing to share with your audience.
  2. Always Be Checking: If you’re taping someone, check that it is okay. If someone is hosting the event you are taping, check with that person that it is okay. If you will be taping others nearby, check with them too.
  3. Always Be Complimenting: If someone agrees to be captured, do your best to show them you appreciate their willingness to share their genius and compliment them on it.
  4. Always Be Captioning: Make sure your livestream has a name.  Consider putting hashtags in the name.
  5. Always Be Catchy: Make the name of your livestream catchy so people will want to watch.
  6. Always Be Considerate: If you’re taping someone else, do your best to make them look their best. Remember, you can move the camera off them onto something else if necessary.
  7. Always Be Connected: If you don’t have an unlimited data plan, make sure you connect to the internet. You don’t want to run up your charges.
  8. Always Be Citing: Remember to indicate who is in your video. If it’s you, share your name and where else to find you.  If it is someone else, tag them so folks know who they are watching.
  9. Always Be Charging: Livestreaming eats up battery. Bring your charger! Maybe an extension cord too.

What do you think? Is there something here that you hadn’t thought of that you find helpful? Is there something missing? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
