I'm sorry you are upset about the "two distinct worlds of college" but I think you are oversimplifying things and are only taking examples from two experiences you've had. I believe you went to one good school and one bad school. There are infinite worlds of college depending on the school and I can guarantee that it doesn't come down to public vs private.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8318734518772387227.post-61059283065814344752010-12-17T07:39:55.527-05:002010-12-17T07:39:55.527-05:00Wow, I did my undergrad at a SUNY (State Universit...Wow, I did my undergrad at a SUNY (State University of New York)college, my two children are doing their undergrad at SUNY schools. I never experienced the kinds of horror stories that you described. In fact, these schools were on par with the private universities I attended for my MLS, MBA, and now Doctoral work. Perhaps other states should take a look at the SUNY schools. My children are enjoying and thriving in their areas of study.sachaunceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17211745297679811195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8318734518772387227.post-68212344300707555272010-12-16T13:13:33.851-05:002010-12-16T13:13:33.851-05:00Kate--

I believe you are ABSOLUTELY correct in saying that there are different college experiences. I have had the opportunity to attend several institutions in the state of Nebraska, from undergraduate to the specialist level. Even schools comparable in size, courses offered, shared professors, etc., provided a wide array of experiences. I hope that, as educators, we can prepare students AND parents for all of the experiences of college...not merely the academic side. Thanks for great insight.

BrandonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
