While admire y...Cross posting this from G+ thread:<br /><br />While admire your willingness to try to dig into and make some guesses about Trump's ed policy positions, I'm not ready (nor am I sure I'll ever be, frankly) to see how educators are not professionally obligated to respond in their daily work to his campaign's overt appeal to white identity politics (a.k.a. normalized racism), vicious insult slinging, and patent disinformation. Educators are, after all, responsible for teaching respect for basic truth and decency. <br /><br />From my perspective, while ed policy will matter, and perhaps there will indeed be interesting new things tried as a result of this seismic shift in government, the overriding mandate for educators everywhere is to reflect on, and double down on their role as stewards of a decent, critically-thinking citizenship capable of democratic self-government. I don't disagree with your efforts to unpack his ed policies, but I think as educators we are obligated to be very clear that the dangerous words and actions of the campaign that just won can never be considered "business as usual." It's not enough to blame our smug media, or to casually dismiss the racist and fascist overtures as mere campaign stunts.
