I was just watching an episode of Stossel - the subject was longevity and economic status - and the guest mentioned that one of the biggest hurdles for the poor countries is the lack of investment and extension of credit. Those microloan programs really CAN make a difference. You and your children should check out Muhammad Yunus, author of "Banker to the Poor."
